July 14 Album Review - Mighty To Save, Hillsong Church![]() Hillsong has always been producing quality and worshipful albums. This particular album stood out among other live worship album. At first, judging from the last two live albums, the direction seem to be going to modern rock praise and worship. But after listening to this album, I saw it slowly drifting away from the path of rock and returning back to its roots "The True Hillsong Genre" has indeed returned and they are indeed back with full of zest and Hillsong hype and swings. The new Live Worship album: "Mighty To Save" is indeed a new, refreshing, but true to the "Hillsong style", hype but a diverse blend of music from modern pop to heavy rocking praise, to hillsong-ish swing and pop. Hillsong is back on their original roots again! Thus, here you go, the list of songs and their reviews... Take It All This version is quite different from the United Live album. The intro seemed fuzzy with random streaks of sounds coming out. It also showed a different variation of intro by the rhythmic guitar but in the same chord range. The rest of the song is quite the same like the original version, with random guitar distortions coming out and everywhere. "He has the power to save the world, my life", the proclamation of salvation, and that we are not ashamed of this very fact. Take it all! The Freedom We Know A fresh way of putting rock and acoustics into good use. Wacky bass riffs, jamming electric guitars and also once again proclamation of salvation. It features a contemporary feel of usage of chords. In other words, this is one lively and catchy tune and incorporates with lyrics that repeatingly declare and "dance, dance, dance" to the freedom we know we are having now.... For Who You Are A beautiful acoustic + electric guitar arrangement intro and accom. This piece declares our worship for the king. This song really shows the glory and the joy to worship our king and really lifts one's spirit to declare and praise with repeating verses in the choruses. A beautiful praise song indeed. You Alone Are God The rock feel slowly fade away, and keyboard arpeggios floating all around. This is a slow, yet modern and building up to the other songs. The chorus is magnified with declaring His glory. Indeed true to Hillsong ways, it is followed by a electric guitar interlude to the bridge, declaring His reign on the earth. At The Cross Soft, gentle, yet comforting. 3 words. Lovely. Picture the environment where you are close to the cross and the words you utter: "I know You love me". Another beautiful solo piece with lovely lyrics. From The Inside Out Don't mistake this version as similiar to the original one. As this one is more livelier and what can I say... It nearly put me to tears and even as a hear this song, I sang along and begin to feel this sense of declaring and reassurance with this lyrics. The Hillsong has done a great work in remaking this song, though with minor changes, but it has certainly made a big difference and has put it as one of the major songs Hillsongs has ever produced in the past decade. Found The intro begins with the all so familiar electric keys sound. This song is generally soft and gentle all around. Note the lyrics. They are simply meaningful and a simple dialogue session. Simple and Clean. Just too great. More to See I was quite surprise with this song. It is a bright and lively song. It features an all women voices choir. Yes. The Hillsong is beginning to touch their own genre they have nearly lost from the last two albums. A bright gospel song with true to your heart hillsong style, yours truly. The hillsongs are truly back man! Give this song a go, and you could actually be surprised too! Adonai The rocking vibe just cut in again! This song brings back the United band back with rock and loud groove. The song is more livelier than any other songs in the album, however done with balance between the loud electric guitars and gentle acoustic guitars. The bass groove is really wacky and the rhythm is just.... what can I say? So United-like. Good one! I Believe The fading volume of rockish music suddenly perked up again. Rock music, catchy and true to United quality of music. With hints of trumpets, which are Planet Shaker's forte feature. I somehow feel it leaning towards planet shakers way of music arrangement. But Im quite pleased with the overall effect it managed to achieve and a well-written lyrics, affirmation of what we believe, The Son of God, truly a great song to follow up. Oceans Will Part The volume tones down as the piano plays on the intro. A great vocal song accompanied with the piano. Hillsongs really has their own magic when it comes to their lyrics. It may be very familiar to say this, but I somehow think that theme focuses on the declaration of God's mighty power. The entire team has done well in reviving not only their music, but the revamp of their lyrics, the words they used in the songs are so beautiful and touching, it is also very meaningful and worshipful. None But Jesus This version features an unplugged acoustic guitar and vocal. Simple, quiet but true to heart. The lyrics are still the same and it seemed much clearer to notice now. It may have improved because of this approach being well used. Higher with I Believe In You As the title suggests, it is another declaration piece, with a loud and majestic music. The music really fits properly the declaration parts and the build up pre chorus "Higher" seems to give a worshipful and praise manner. Indeed a beautiful song and filled with spirit. The other song in this part of the medley, "I Believe In You" is a lively and high-spirited and loud arrangement with repeating chants of "I owe You my life" really makes a good closing to this great medley. Mighty To Save The cover song. The theme of it all. Its altogether lively and the lyrics are just so true to the Hillsong spirit, ever praising and thanksgiving filled the air during that night when they recorded it live with thousands of worshippers. This bring an end to my humble review of this live album. What can I say, if u give me to rate this album, it has potential for a PERFECT score. I'll not be surprised if christianitytoday.com will rate it 5/5. As for me you can now see the reason why Im willing to spend time to write a review on my blog when Im so lazy to even update it. This album really brings back the hillsongs, and true to heart lyrics with constant declaration of His love and His Salvation to all! Yahoo! "Savior, He can move the mountains My God is mighty to save He is mighthy to save Forever offer us salvation He rose and conquenred the grave... Jesus conquered the grave!" Comments (2)
